A 43-year-old woman was killed after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her own husband in a violent domestic dispute fueled by jealousy during her birthday celebration on Thursday night in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Police identified the victim by her alias “Jocelyn,” a married resident of Christian Village in Barangay Aplaya, Digos City. The suspect, identified by the alias “Muhaliden,” 41, was the victim’s husband and lived with her in the same community.

According to the initial investigation conducted by the Digos City Police Station, the incident occurred at around 8:50 p.m. while the family was holding a small gathering to celebrate the victim’s birthday.

Investigators said the couple suddenly figured in a heated argument after the suspect allegedly became consumed by jealousy and accused his wife of having an affair with another man.

Authorities said the confrontation quickly turned deadly when the suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim. Police said Jocelyn sustained at least eight stab wounds during the attack.

Family members and responders immediately rushed the victim to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in an attempt to save her life. However, attending physician Dra. Shenna Princess Defensor declared the victim dead on arrival due to the severity of her injuries.

Police operatives swiftly arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. He is now under the custody of the Digos City Police Station while authorities prepare the filing of a parricide case against him.

The tragic incident has once again highlighted the deadly consequences of domestic violence and unresolved marital conflict. Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.

Police also urged the public to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving family disputes and encouraged individuals experiencing domestic abuse or emotional distress to seek help from authorities, family members, or support organizations before situations escalate into violence.
