MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — A high-value drug personality (HVT) was arrested in a coordinated anti-drug operation that led to the seizure of approximately P3.4 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, authorities reported.

The buy-bust operation was carried out on April 27, 2026, in Pangao Saduc, Marawi City, through a joint effort led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Lanao del Sur Provincial Office, alongside multiple security units.

Supporting forces included the 4th Mechanized Battalion under Task Force Marawi, the 42nd Mechanized Company, the 43rd Mechanized Battalion of the Philippine Army, the Marawi City Police Station, the 45th Special Action Company of the 4th Special Action Battalion under the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (SAF), and the Police Drug Enforcement Group – SOU 15.

Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Jonairah,” also known as “Alex,” a 39-year-old female resident of the area. She was apprehended after allegedly selling illegal drugs to an undercover operative during the entrapment operation.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession was a transparent plastic bag containing approximately 500 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The confiscated drugs carry an estimated standard value of P3,400,000. Also seized was the marked buy-bust money used in the operation.

Law enforcement officials said the successful operation underscores intensified efforts to dismantle illegal drug networks in the region, particularly in identified hotspots.

The suspect is currently under police custody and is set to face charges for violation of Section 5, or the sale of dangerous drugs, under Republic Act No. 9165.

Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with ongoing anti-drug campaigns aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal substances in communities.
