ZAMBOANGA CITY — Two individuals were arrested after they were caught in possession of unlicensed firearms during a police checkpoint operation along a highway in Barangay Patalon on the morning of April 19, 2026.

Police personnel from Labuan Police Station 10 flagged down a motorcycle carrying the suspects at around 11:00 a.m. as part of routine checkpoint procedures. Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the ఇద్ద suspects were transporting firearms without the necessary legal documents.
The suspects were identified as alias “Warid,” a fisherman and native of Kaluang, Luuk, Sulu, and alias “Gaspar,” a farmer from Sitio Asinan, Barangay Kasanyangan in Zamboanga City.
Confiscated from their possession were two caliber .45 pistols, two magazines, and a total of 12 rounds of ammunition. The motorcycle used by the suspects was also seized by authorities.
The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) commended the personnel of Labuan Police Station 10 for the successful operation, highlighting their vigilance in enforcing security measures. As recognition for their accomplishment, the police officers involved received a ₱20,000 reward, personally awarded by ZCPO chief Police Colonel Fortaleza.
The arrested individuals are now under police custody and are expected to face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities reiterated the importance of intensified checkpoint operations as part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms and ensure public safety in the city.
