ZAMBOANGA CITY — Operatives of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) arrested a man identified only by his alias “Asari” during a search warrant operation that led to the recovery of a .45 caliber pistol in Barangay Labuan, Zamboanga City, early Wednesday morning.

According to police reports, the suspect is a resident of Sirawai town in Zamboanga del Norte and was temporarily staying at a house in Barangay Labuan when authorities carried out the operation.
The search warrant was implemented by CIDG operatives before dawn, targeting the residence where the suspect was reportedly staying. During the operation, law enforcement authorities allegedly recovered one .45 caliber pistol inside the house, prompting the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Alias “Asari” is now under police custody while authorities prepare the appropriate charges against him, particularly for alleged violation of laws related to illegal possession of firearms.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding the origin of the recovered firearm and whether the suspect has links to other criminal activities in the region. However, police said the operation forms part of the intensified campaign against loose firearms and criminality in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
The PNP-CIDG continues to urge the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing information on individuals involved in illegal firearm activities and other criminal offenses in order to help maintain peace and security in local communities.
