CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities arrested a high-value individual (HVI) in a successful anti-drug operation that led to the seizure of nearly ₱748,000 worth of suspected shabu in Barangay Camaman-an on the night of April 14, 2026.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Bobong,” 50, a resident of the area, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted in Purok Ramonal by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO). The operation was carried out in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10), with support from the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC).

Police said the suspect was tagged as a high-value individual due to his alleged involvement in illegal drug distribution within the locality.

Confiscated from the suspect were approximately 110 grams of suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱748,000. Authorities also recovered a sachet used as the buy-bust item, two larger sachets believed to contain the illegal substance, a ₱500 bill used as marked money, a mobile phone, a digital weighing scale, and a pouch.

The pieces of evidence suggest that the suspect may have been engaged in the repacking and distribution of illegal drugs, according to investigators.

The arrested individual is currently under the custody of the CDEU and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Law enforcement authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations in the city, emphasizing that efforts will continue to dismantle drug networks and hold accountable those involved in the illegal drug trade.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the suspect’s operations and to identify possible accomplices.
