State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned residents across Mindanao to remain vigilant as partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms are expected from Wednesday morning until early Thursday.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional forecast, PAGASA said the entire Mindanao island will experience generally fair weather conditions punctuated by sudden downpours, particularly in the afternoon and evening. These thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas, especially in low-lying and mountainous communities.

Winds across the island will be light to moderate, blowing from the east to northeast, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters—generally safe for small sea vessels but still requiring caution during thunderstorms.

Zamboanga Peninsula: Warm Days with Intermittent Rains

In Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures will range between 22°C and 34°C during the day, cooling slightly at night.

Residents can expect partly cloudy skies that may turn cloudy at times, accompanied by rainshowers or thunderstorms throughout the day and evening.

Northern Mindanao: Moderate Heat, Rainfall Likely

Across Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, temperatures will range from 20°C to 33°C.

Similar weather patterns prevail, with localized thunderstorms expected to develop, particularly later in the day.

Davao Region: Hot and Humid with Thunderstorm Threats

The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will experience some of the highest temperatures, reaching up to 35°C during daytime.

Despite the heat, intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms remain likely, especially in the afternoon and evening hours.

SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga: Scattered Storms Persist

In SOCCSKSARGEN—covering North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—temperatures will range from 22°C to 35°C.

Meanwhile, in the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, similar weather conditions will prevail, with temperatures reaching up to 34°C.

BARMM: High Heat, Rainfall Threat Across Provinces

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will see temperatures peaking at 36°C—the highest in the forecast.

Localized thunderstorms are expected to persist, posing risks of flash floods, particularly in flood-prone communities.

Public Advisory

PAGASA urged residents to remain alert for sudden weather changes, especially during thunderstorms that may bring heavy rainfall, lightning, and strong winds. Fisherfolk and small vessel operators are also advised to exercise caution when venturing out to sea during inclement weather.

With generally warm and humid conditions across Mindanao, authorities recommend staying hydrated while keeping an eye on weather updates as conditions may rapidly change within the day.
