March 26, 2026 | Mindanao, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has warned of widespread rain showers and thunderstorms across Mindanao as easterlies continue to affect the region, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides in several areas.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional weather forecast issued Thursday, PAGASA said the weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains, particularly over the eastern sections of Mindanao, while the rest of the island will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Caraga and Davao Regions Under Close Watch
The Caraga Region and Davao Region are expected to bear the brunt of the easterlies, with cloudy skies, frequent rain showers, and thunderstorms throughout the day.
Affected provinces include:
- Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur
- Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur
- Dinagat Islands
- Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental
- Metro Davao
Authorities warned that moderate to at times heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Fair but Unsettled Weather Elsewhere
The rest of Mindanao—including Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao—will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers or thunderstorms.
While rainfall in these areas is expected to be less intense, PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could still result in localized flooding or landslides.
Temperature and Wind Conditions
Temperatures across Mindanao will range from 18°C to 35°C, with cooler conditions in upland areas such as Bukidnon and warmer temperatures in coastal and urban centers like Metro Davao.
Winds across the island will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters—generally safe for small sea vessels, though caution is still advised during thunderstorms.
Localized Forecast Highlights
- In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Isabela City, and nearby provinces, temperatures will range between 23°C and 34°C, with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms.
- Northern Mindanao provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte will see similar weather patterns, with temperatures between 18°C and 35°C.
- In SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM areas like Cotabato City, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, intermittent rains and thunderstorms are expected, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 35°C.
Public Advised to Stay Alert
PAGASA urged residents, especially those in flood-prone and landslide-prone communities, to remain vigilant and monitor local weather updates. Travelers and fisherfolk are also advised to exercise caution, particularly during periods of thunderstorms.
The current weather disturbance is expected to persist until Friday morning, with further updates to be issued as conditions evolve.
