Davao City, November 18, 2025 — In a major show of commitment to the government’s anti-drug campaign, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO 11) destroyed over ₱4 million worth of illegal drugs during the observance of Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week 2025.
Led by Regional Director DIR III Edgar T. Jubay, the agency carried out the destruction at Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes, J. Camus Extension, Davao City, strictly following Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation involved the thermal incineration of a total of ₱4,020,036.48 worth of seized, confiscated, and surrendered drugs. This included 497.3788 grams of shabu valued at ₱3,382,175.84, 5,303.8387 grams of marijuana worth ₱637,860.64, and expired medicines estimated at ₱3,308.
To ensure transparency and public confidence, the destruction was witnessed by RTC Branch 17 Presiding Judge Hon. Marie Estrellita Tolentino-Rojas, along with representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), local government officials, civil society, and the media. The event also sought to address public skepticism over alleged recycling of confiscated drugs.
“PDEA RO 11 remains steadfast in safeguarding drug evidence and supporting the government’s anti-drug campaign,” Dir. Jubay said. “Through proper and irreversible destruction, we ensure that illegal drugs do not return to the streets.”
The activity underscores the agency’s commitment to lawful disposal of evidence while reinforcing public trust in the Philippines’ ongoing fight against illegal drugs.
