VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — A 27-year-old motorcycle driver died after his vehicle crashed into a carabao that suddenly crossed the Provincial Road in Purok 2, Barangay Maapag, around 11:50 a.m. the other day.
The victim, identified only as alias Marjun, a resident of Purok 17, Barangay Poblacion, and living with his partner, was driving a Yamaha Mio (with plate number 929 KWB) when the fatal collision occurred.
Initial police investigation revealed that Marjun was traveling along the national road when the carabao, reportedly left unattended by its owner outside their residence, unexpectedly crossed into the roadway. Unable to avoid the animal, the motorcycle slammed into it, causing the driver to sustain severe injuries on various parts of his body.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but died a few hours later while receiving medical treatment.
Authorities learned that the carabao had been tied and fed outside the owner’s house but was accidentally left unsupervised, allowing it to wander onto the road.
The victim’s body is now laid in state as police continue their investigation to determine additional details and identify possible charges against the livestock owner for negligence.
Police remind animal owners to ensure their livestock are properly secured at all times, emphasizing that road safety remains a shared responsibility to prevent similar tragic incidents.
