MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — A three-year-old boy died after he was found in a creek in Purok 25, Sta. Cruz, Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, on the afternoon of October 6.

The child had reportedly gone missing, prompting family members and other concerned individuals to immediately launch a search and alert authorities about the incident.

During the search, the boy was found in a portion of the creek in the area.

Initial information indicated that the child may have been swept away by floodwaters and possibly became caught against a tree or piece of wood before he was found. However, authorities have yet to establish the exact circumstances that led to the child’s death.

The boy was brought to the Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center for appropriate medical attention and examination. His condition, however, was already critical when he was recovered.

A message circulating in connection with the incident said the child’s mother had been helping search for him after he went missing. The account also said the grandmother had reportedly lost sight of the child while he followed his grandfather, who was at work.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance and the possible role of rising or fast-moving water remain under investigation.

Authorities are expected to determine the exact cause and manner of death based on the medical examination and other findings gathered during the investigation.

The incident serves as a painful reminder of the dangers that creeks and waterways can pose to young children, particularly during periods of flooding or sudden rises in water levels.

Further details will be reported once officially confirmed by authorities and the child’s family.
