MINDANAO — Residents across the island are advised to brace for cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout Thursday, October 30, as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect large parts of Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)–Mindanao PRSD (MINPRSD).

PAGASA warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rains are expected in several areas, which may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous regions. Winds across Mindanao will be light to moderate coming from the northwest to southwest, while seas will be slight to moderate with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Regional Conditions

Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, del Sur, Sibugay, and Isabela City, skies will remain cloudy with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will range from 22°C to 33°C, cooling slightly at night.

In Northern Mindanao, particularly Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte, residents can expect similar weather conditions with temperatures between 19°C and 31°C. Coastal waters will remain generally calm to moderate.

The Davao Region—comprising Davao City, Davao del Norte, del Sur, de Oro, Oriental, and Occidental—will experience cloudy skies and thunderstorms throughout the day and into the evening, with temperatures from 22°C to 30°C.

Over in SOCCSKSARGEN, including the provinces of Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, cloudy conditions with scattered thunderstorms will dominate, with temperatures hovering between 22°C and 32°C.

For the Caraga Region—Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands—residents should prepare for rainshowers and possible thunderstorms during both daytime and nighttime, with temperatures from 22°C to 31°C.

Meanwhile, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which includes Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will also see widespread cloudy skies and rainshowers. Daytime temperatures are forecast between 21°C and 31°C, with light to moderate winds and generally manageable sea conditions.

Safety and Advisory

PAGASA urged residents, particularly those in flood-prone and landslide-prone communities, to remain alert for potential hazards from continuous rainfall. Fisherfolk and small sea craft operators are advised to exercise caution when venturing out due to occasional moderate seas.

The public is encouraged to monitor official updates from PAGASA and local disaster risk reduction and management offices (LDRRMOs) for real-time weather advisories and warnings.
