CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police operatives arrested a 29-year-old trisikad driver and seized more than ₱1.2 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Pinikitan, Barangay Camaman-an, on Thursday, September 4.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Andro,” a resident of Barangay Camaman-an, was collared by members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU-10). Authorities said it was his first recorded offense. His alleged drug source also resides in the same barangay, while his distribution reportedly covered the entire city.
Recovered from the suspect were two elongated, one knot-tied, and one large square heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing around 180 grams of shabu with a total estimated street value of ₱1,224,000. Also confiscated were a green sling bag, a coin purse, and the marked ₱1,000 bill used in the transaction.
The suspect, along with other non-drug evidence, was turned over to Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Police Station 2 for proper disposition. The seized drug evidence will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for qualitative and quantitative examination.
Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are set to be filed against him.
Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) Regional Director PBGen Rolindo M. Suguilon lauded the RPDEU-10 team for the successful operation and emphasized the police force’s commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao.
“We assure the public that PRO10 remains relentless in our operations to ensure safer communities, free from the menace of illegal drugs. Together with our partners and stakeholders, we will continue to pursue this fight until we achieve a drug-free Northern Mindanao,” Suguilon said.
