Malaybalay City, Bukidnon — A member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to government forces following intensified Focused Military Operations (FMO) by the 403rd Infantry “Peacemaker” Brigade in Bukidnon.
The surrenderer was identified as Marxphil Gonzales Sambucan, who carried several aliases including Double M, Gela, Baseli, Gebara, Shadow, and Mamba. He was part of the Platoon Guerrilla (PG), Regional Sentro de Grabidad (RSDG) Compaq of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).
Military reports said Sambucan decided to abandon the armed struggle after continuous operations of the Peacemaker Brigade weakened their group’s will to fight. He managed to escape and later turned himself in to authorities.
Sambucan is now under the custody of the Philippine Army for proper documentation and assistance under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). He is also undergoing debriefing, with the 403rd Brigade coordinating with government agencies to provide support services for his reintegration.
Brigadier General Seigfred C. Tubalado, Commander of the 403rd Brigade, welcomed Sambucan’s surrender and assured that he would be treated with dignity as he rebuilds his life.
“The surrender is another testament that more and more members of the CTG realize the futility of armed struggle and the sincerity of the government in helping them return to the folds of the law and live peacefully with their families,” Tubalado said, urging other rebels to lay down their arms and embrace peace.
