Parang, Maguindanao del Norte | June 16, 2025 — Authorities arrested a suspected drug peddler during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sarmiento, Parang, as part of the Philippine National Police’s intensified anti-illegal drug campaign in the Bangsamoro region.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Winnie,” 45, married, and a resident of Parang, was apprehended at a known hotspot for illegal drug activities. Law enforcement operatives confiscated from him three sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 11 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱74,000. Also recovered were one genuine ₱1,000 bill used as marked money and 49 photocopied ₱1,000 bills used in the operation.
The operation was a joint effort of the Parang Municipal Police Station, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Maguindanao del Norte, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit – BARMM (RDEU-BAR), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14-A, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Maguindanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 15, RIAT-Maguindanao del Norte, and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
Authorities ensured that the suspect was properly informed of his arrest and constitutional rights in a language he understood. An inventory of the seized evidence was conducted on-site in the presence of barangay officials and a media representative, in accordance with legal procedures.
All confiscated items and the suspect were brought to the Parang Municipal Police Station for documentation and appropriate action.
Police Regional Office–BARMM Regional Director PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz lauded the operating units for their swift and coordinated effort.
“This operation reflects our unwavering commitment to rid our communities of illegal drugs and criminality. PRO BAR will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies and the public to ensure peace, safety, and well-being across the region,” he said.
