SULTAN KUDARAT, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE — June 17, 2025
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) once again demonstrated their commitment to peace and development as they partnered for a medical outreach program held today at the Darapanan Integrated School in Barangay Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
Spearheaded by the 9th Field Artillery Battalion of the Philippine Army, the medical mission served hundreds of residents from five barangays: Darapanan, Ping-Ping, Matengengen, Naketan, and Ulas. The initiative was also made possible through the support of the Maguindanao del Norte Provincial Government, the Cotabato City Health Office, Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital, and the Ministry of Health of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM).
Held within the MILF Administrative Camp at Darapanan Integrated School, the outreach program provided free medical services including consultations, dental care, circumcision (operation tuli), and distribution of medicines.
The joint activity was lauded as a success, made possible through the close coordination with MILF-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) commanders and barangay officials of the involved communities.
Principal Kalima “Yemah” Embing-Yusop of Darapanan Integrated School expressed her gratitude that the health services reached their school on just the second day of classes. “It’s a blessing to host this program, especially at the beginning of the school year,” she said.
The medical outreach exemplifies ongoing efforts to promote health, peace, and unity in post-conflict communities across the Bangsamoro region.
