Cagayan de Oro City – June 6, 2025 — Authorities arrested a high-value drug suspect in a buy-bust operation along J.R. Borja Street, Barangay 40, Cagayan de Oro City, on June 5.

The joint operation was carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), the City Intelligence Unit (CIU), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10’s Regional Special Enforcement Team (PDEA-10 RSET).

The suspect, identified only as alias “Nante,” a 29-year-old resident of Barangay Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental, is a newly identified figure in the local drug trade. Initial investigations revealed that he sourced the illegal drugs from Marawi City and transported them to Cagayan de Oro for distribution.

Seized during the operation were eight plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with a total estimated weight of 560 grams and a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of approximately ₱3.8 million. Authorities also confiscated a sling bag, a mobile phone, a motorcycle, and a marked ₱1,000 bill used in the sting operation.

“Nante” is currently under the custody of CDEU-COCPO as legal proceedings are being prepared.

Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, lauded the successful collaboration among the operating units.

“This major drug bust is a clear manifestation of our unwavering commitment to the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign of the PNP,” De Guzman said, emphasizing the importance of teamwork among police and partner agencies.

He also urged continued vigilance and public cooperation in the fight against illegal drugs, affirming that the PNP remains dedicated to protecting communities.

“We must stand united in our efforts. The PNP, in partnership with other agencies, will continue to safeguard the safety and welfare of every Filipino,” he added.
