Davao City – In a significant move to bring life-saving services closer to the people, the City Government of Davao, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), inaugurated a Central 911 satellite station in Toril on April 30.
Strategically located along Rasay Street, beside the Toril Fire Station and Lingap Toril, the new satellite station is expected to boost emergency response capabilities in Toril and its surrounding barangays.
City government officials, barangay leaders, personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and CDRRMO staff attended the inauguration, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts in disaster response and community safety.
The Toril station is the fifth Central 911 satellite facility in the city, joining those already established in Baganihan, Calinan, Panacan, and Cabantian. The expansion aims to decentralize emergency services and bring them closer to communities, especially those located far from the city center.
“The establishment of these satellite stations is a crucial step toward saving more lives by reducing emergency response time,” said a CDRRMO representative. “Emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere, and proximity to response units can spell the difference between life and death.”
By streamlining its operations through localized stations, Central 911 strengthens Davao City’s preparedness for disasters, medical emergencies, and fire incidents. The Toril facility is expected to reduce response time and improve coordination with other emergency service providers.
With the increasing frequency and severity of disasters, especially in densely populated or geographically distant areas, the importance of accessible emergency services cannot be overstated. Bringing 911 services closer to communities ensures that aid arrives faster when it’s needed most.
The Davao City government continues to emphasize proactive measures in disaster risk management, aiming to make every barangay not only resilient but also equipped with the means to respond quickly in times of crisis.
