Severe impact triggers multi-vehicle crash
According to initial information, the van was traveling along the national highway when it allegedly lost control and crashed into a parked panel truck.
The force of the collision caused extensive damage and resulted in other vehicles being struck, turning the incident into a multi-vehicle pileup.
Several motorcycles and a tricycle were reportedly among the vehicles affected by the crash.
The violent impact also left several people injured, including passengers and individuals in the vicinity of the accident.
The exact cause of the van losing control had not yet been established. Authorities have not released a final determination on whether speed, mechanical failure, road conditions, driver fatigue, or another factor contributed to the crash.

Responders from the PDRRMO worked alongside personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Dumalinao, Dumalinao Municipal Police Station, medical teams, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Pagadian City, and other concerned agencies.

Authorities are also working to verify the identities of the fatalities and coordinate with their families.
The incident underscores the serious risks faced by motorists and passengers traveling along national highways, particularly when a vehicle suddenly loses control in an area with other motorists and roadside vehicles.
Officials reiterated the importance of defensive driving, observing speed limits, remaining alert, and ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy before undertaking long-distance trips.
For the families of the seven people who lost their lives, however, the Tuesday afternoon journey ended in tragedy, as a routine trip along the national highway became one of the deadliest road crashes reported in the area.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and further details—including the complete identities of the fatalities, the number and condition of those injured, and the official findings on the cause of the crash—are expected to be released as verification continues.
