DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has placed large parts of Mindanao under cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the region, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides in several provinces.
In its Regional Weather Forecast for Mindanao (MINPRSD) issued at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, PAGASA said the weather outlook will remain valid until 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 26.
According to the state weather bureau, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought about by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
PAGASA warned residents in these areas to remain vigilant as moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying communities, flood-prone areas, and mountainous terrain.
Meanwhile, the Davao Region, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and other parts of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, also caused by the Southwest Monsoon. Although rainfall in these areas may be less widespread, PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could still produce localized flooding and landslides.
Zamboanga Peninsula Under Persistent Rain
The Zamboanga Peninsula is expected to remain among the wettest areas throughout the forecast period.
Cloudy skies with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms are forecast over Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, with temperatures generally ranging between 24°C and 32°C.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail, while coastal waters are expected to be moderate to rough, with wave heights ranging from 1.2 to 2.5 meters, posing potential hazards to small fishing boats and other light sea vessels.
Northern Mindanao Also Faces Wet Conditions
In Northern Mindanao, residents of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental should likewise prepare for cloudy weather accompanied by frequent rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Temperatures across the region are expected to range from 21°C to 33°C, while moderate to strong southwesterly winds will continue to generate moderate to rough seas along coastal areas.
Davao Region to See Increasing Rainfall
Although portions of the Davao Region may begin the day with partly cloudy skies, PAGASA said conditions are expected to deteriorate into cloudy weather with rainshowers and thunderstorms as the Southwest Monsoon intensifies.
Affected areas include Davao City (Metro Davao), Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, where temperatures are forecast between 21°C and 32°C.
Coastal communities are advised to exercise caution due to moderate to rough sea conditions.
SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM Under Heavy Rain Threat
Across North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected to persist.
In the BARMM, provinces including Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, as well as Cotabato City, will continue to experience widespread rains throughout the forecast period.
Temperatures in these areas are expected to range from 22°C to 32°C, with moderate to strong southwesterly winds and rough coastal waters.
Caraga Region Also Affected
In the Caraga Region, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands remain under cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.
Meanwhile, Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers, although localized thunderstorms may still become severe enough to cause flooding in vulnerable areas.
Marine Advisory Remains in Effect
PAGASA reported that most coastal areas across Mindanao will experience moderate to strong southwest to south winds, generating moderate to rough seas with wave heights of 1.2 to 2.5 meters.
Fisherfolk, operators of small fishing boats, and owners of other light watercraft are advised to exercise caution or avoid venturing out to sea if conditions worsen.
Public Advised to Stay Alert
With the Southwest Monsoon expected to continue influencing weather conditions across Mindanao, PAGASA urged residents to closely monitor official weather advisories and rainfall warnings.
Local government units and disaster risk reduction offices are also encouraged to remain on heightened alert, particularly in communities vulnerable to flooding, landslides, and overflowing rivers.
Motorists are likewise advised to exercise extra caution during periods of intense rainfall due to reduced visibility, slippery roads, and the possibility of sudden flooding in low-lying areas.
