DUMINGAG, Zamboanga del Sur — A 67-year-old farmer was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his 64-year-old wife multiple times during a violent domestic incident in Barangay Datu-Tutukan, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, on the evening of Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
According to the initial investigation by the Dumingag Municipal Police Station (MPS), the incident occurred at around 6:40 p.m. while the victim was inside a local store. Authorities said the suspect suddenly attacked his wife using a sharp bladed weapon locally known as a “Plamingko.”
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to her chest, back, and left arm as the assault unfolded. The attack was eventually stopped after the village chief (Punong Barangay) intervened, preventing further harm to the victim.
Responders immediately rushed the injured woman to the Dumingag Rural Health Unit for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to a hospital in Ozamiz City for specialized medical care.
Following the incident, responding police officers, together with the village chief, immediately launched a hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect in Purok 2, Barangay Datu-Tutukan.
Authorities also recovered from the suspect’s possession the “Plamingko” believed to have been used in the stabbing.
The arrested suspect and the recovered bladed weapon were taken to the Dumingag Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
Police are now preparing the appropriate criminal charges against the suspect in connection with the stabbing.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to determine the circumstances and possible motive behind the violent attack. The condition of the victim has not yet been officially updated as of this writing.
