GLAN, Sarangani Province — A 44-year-old public school teacher was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Glan-Padidu, Glan, Sarangani Province, on the afternoon of October 27, 2026, after allegedly selling suspected illegal drugs to an undercover police operative.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Arnel,” is married and a resident of the same barangay where the operation was conducted. Police classified the suspect as a high-value individual (HVI) in their anti-illegal drug campaign.
The operation was carried out at approximately 4:10 p.m. by the Glan Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Sarangani Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Sarangani Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 12.
Authorities said the arrest followed an alleged transaction in which the suspect sold suspected shabu to a police operative acting as a poseur-buyer.
Suspected shabu and marijuana recovered
Police reported seizing three sachets containing suspected illegal drugs, along with the marked money used in the operation.
The confiscated items included a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.150 grams, identified as the alleged buy-bust item and valued at ₱1,020; another sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.440 grams, with a standard drug price of ₱2,992; and a sachet containing dried, crushed suspected marijuana leaves with fruiting tops weighing 5.140 grams, valued at ₱6,682.
A ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money was also recovered.
Authorities placed the total standard drug price of the seized suspected illegal drugs at ₱10,694.
The confiscated substances have yet to undergo laboratory examination to establish their composition and confirm whether they contain prohibited drugs.
Charges being prepared
Following the arrest, the suspect underwent physical and medical examinations and was placed under the custody of the Glan MPS.
Police said the seized evidence would be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 12 in General Santos City for laboratory testing.
Authorities are preparing to file charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, through inquest proceedings.
Section 5 of the law covers the unlawful sale, trading, administration, dispensing, delivery, distribution, and transportation of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 addresses the unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
The suspect’s arrest does not, by itself, establish guilt. The allegations remain subject to the appropriate legal proceedings, and the seized substances must undergo forensic examination as part of the investigation.
Authorities have not provided further details regarding the case or indicated whether additional suspects are being investigated.
The operation forms part of continuing law enforcement efforts against the illegal drug trade in Sarangani Province. The case is expected to proceed through the required legal and forensic processes.
