ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte – What began as a routine police response to a domestic disturbance late Sunday night turned into a heartwarming display of compassion and service after police officers rescued and cared for a young child left vulnerable amid a family conflict.

At around midnight on June 14, 2026, personnel of the Iligan City Police Station 3, operating under the supervision of Station Commander PMaj Rorye V. Tabuclin, immediately responded to a reported family dispute involving a father and an elderly grandfather.

According to police reports, tensions escalated between the two family members, prompting authorities to intervene. However, upon the arrival of law enforcers, the father reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind a young child caught in the middle of the family turmoil.

As officers worked to de-escalate the situation, their attention quickly shifted to the welfare of the child, who appeared to have been neglected amid the commotion.

Demonstrating that police work extends beyond law enforcement, one of the responding officers, PCpl Sanilyn B. Manticahon, stepped in to personally care for the child. Known among her colleagues as a dedicated “Police Mom,” Manticahon ensured that the child’s immediate needs were addressed.

Police said the officer not only cleaned and attended to the child but also used her own money to purchase essential supplies, including diapers and other necessities, to ensure the child’s comfort and well-being.

The act of kindness highlighted the humanitarian side of police service, drawing praise from fellow officers and community members alike.

Meanwhile, authorities safely assisted the elderly grandfather and ensured that he was securely transported back to his residence without further incident.

The Iligan City Police Station 3 commended the responding officers for their swift action, professionalism, and compassion, emphasizing that public service goes beyond maintaining peace and order—it also involves protecting and caring for the most vulnerable members of society.

The incident serves as a reminder that behind the uniform are men and women committed not only to enforcing the law but also to extending empathy and support to those in need.

Police officials lauded PCpl Manticahon and other responding personnel for exemplifying the true spirit of community service, proving that in moments of crisis, acts of kindness can make a lasting difference in people’s lives.
