ILIGAN CITY — A 42-year-old man was arrested after police recovered two firearms and a total of 68 rounds of ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Ubaldo Laya, Iligan City, on September 19, 2026.
The operation was conducted at about 10:10 p.m. by personnel of Police Station 4 of the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO), led by its officer-in-charge, Police Major Reiner R. Escalante.
The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Iligan City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), City Intelligence Unit, 1005th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), and Regional Intelligence Unit 10 (RIU 10).
Police implemented the search pursuant to a Search Warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 4 in Iligan City.
During the search, authorities reportedly recovered a .38-caliber revolver and a .45-caliber pistol, along with ammunition and other items.
The confiscated items included:
- One .38-caliber revolver
- One .45-caliber pistol
- Two .45-caliber magazines
- Three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition
- 51 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition
- 14 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition
- One black belt bag
- Three spent .45-caliber cartridge cases
The ammunition recovered totaled 68 rounds, consisting of 51 rounds for the .45-caliber firearm, 14 rounds for the .38-caliber firearm, and three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition.
The arrested man is currently under the custody of Police Station 4 of the Iligan City Police Office for appropriate disposition and the filing of charges in connection with an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities have not indicated in the information provided whether the suspect had valid licenses or permits for the firearms and ammunition recovered during the search. The exact circumstances surrounding the possession of the weapons will be determined through the appropriate legal proceedings.
