ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested a 30-year-old alleged drug personality and confiscated approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P680,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Upper Calarian on Monday night.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Jun,” was apprehended by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, during the anti-illegal drugs operation conducted in Flamingo Village, Barangay Upper Calarian.
According to initial police reports, authorities recovered around 100 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) from the suspect. The confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P680,000, based on prevailing Dangerous Drugs Board valuation.
The operation was carried out after law enforcement officers successfully conducted a buy-bust transaction that led to the suspect’s arrest. The seized drug evidence was immediately inventoried and documented in accordance with established procedures before being turned over for laboratory examination.
The arrested suspect is now under police custody and is expected to face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities said the successful operation forms part of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, targeting individuals allegedly involved in the distribution of prohibited substances in the city.
Police also reiterated their appeal to the public to continue supporting anti-drug efforts by reporting suspicious activities in their communities, emphasizing that public cooperation remains vital in dismantling illegal drug networks and maintaining peace and order.
Further investigation is underway to determine the possible source of the confiscated illegal drugs and identify other individuals who may be connected to the suspect’s alleged drug activities.
