ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities confiscated approximately ₱1 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two alleged drug suspects during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted along Bypass Road, Zone 2, Barangay Boalan, Zamboanga City.

The arrested suspects were identified by authorities as Farouk Yasin Samla and Alnadz Ismael Cali.

According to initial police reports, the operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, with an estimated street value of around ₱1 million. The illegal drugs were recovered from the possession of the two suspects during the operation.

Both individuals were immediately taken into police custody and are currently undergoing documentation and processing while investigators prepare the appropriate criminal charges against them for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165).

Authorities have yet to disclose additional details regarding the specific circumstances that led to the operation, including whether it stemmed from a buy-bust operation or intelligence-driven surveillance. The identities of the operating law enforcement units and the exact quantity of the confiscated illegal drugs have also not yet been released.

The seized suspected shabu will undergo laboratory examination to confirm its composition before being presented as evidence in court.

Police reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across Zamboanga City, emphasizing that the campaign against illegal drugs remains one of their top priorities to curb the proliferation of narcotics and dismantle local drug networks.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine whether the two arrested suspects have links to a larger illegal drug syndicate operating in the region.
