TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat — Two individuals were wounded in a shooting incident that rattled residents of Barangay San Pablo on the evening of April 21, 2026, prompting an intensified police operation to track down the unidentified gunmen.

According to the Tacurong City Police Station, the attack occurred at around 7:30 p.m. in Purok Katilingban. Responding officers immediately secured the area and began gathering evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Authorities identified the victims as Fahad Solaiman, a driver and resident of Purok Maligaya, and his passenger, Ainee Fahad. Both sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to a private hospital in the city, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Initial investigation revealed that the victims were on their way home from PARO-12 when they were suddenly ambushed by still unidentified suspects. Witnesses reported that the assailants were aboard a green minivan and a gray Toyota Hilux pickup truck.

Police said the attackers allegedly used a high-powered firearm, believed to be an M16 rifle, in carrying out the assault.

In the immediate aftermath, authorities launched a hot pursuit operation, but the suspects managed to flee toward an undetermined direction. Checkpoints have since been established in key areas as part of efforts to intercept the perpetrators.

Investigators are also looking into possible motives behind the attack, including whether the victims were deliberately targeted.

In a separate report, police also mentioned two other individuals identified only by their aliases “Fe” and “Ne,” who were likewise injured in the same incident and brought to a hospital for medical attention. It remains unclear whether these names refer to the same victims or additional individuals, as authorities continue to validate the details.

The Tacurong City Police assured the public that operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible, while urging witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
