TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat — Authorities launched an intensified follow-up pursuit operation after unidentified armed men ambushed and opened fire on a man riding a black Toyota Wigo in Zone 5, Purok Liwayway, Barangay San Pablo, Tacurong City, at noon on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
According to initial police reports, the victim was driving along the boundary area of Barangays Tina and San Pablo when the suspects suddenly attacked and repeatedly fired at the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Responding personnel from the Tacurong City Police Station, together with other Philippine National Police units and members of the Joint Task Force Talakudong, immediately launched hot pursuit operations to track down and arrest the perpetrators, who reportedly escaped moments after the shooting.
Investigators rushed to the crime scene to gather crucial pieces of evidence, including spent shell casings and CCTV footage from nearby establishments that may help identify the suspects and determine the sequence of events leading to the attack.
Police said the victim, whose identity has yet to be officially established as of this writing, was immediately rushed to a hospital by responding officers for emergency medical treatment. Authorities have yet to disclose the victim’s condition.
The brazen daylight shooting caused alarm among residents in the area, as another violent gun-related incident rocked Tacurong City and nearby communities.
Authorities are currently pursuing several angles, including the possible motive behind the attack, while investigators continue coordinating with witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage that may provide leads in identifying those responsible.
The Tacurong City Police assured the public that operations are ongoing and that all available resources are being utilized to bring the gunmen to justice.
