TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat — A 46-year-old painter was shot and wounded in a brazen morning attack in Barangay San Pablo on Wednesday, sparking fear among residents and prompting an ongoing police pursuit of the suspects.
The incident occurred at around 8:39 a.m. in Purok San Jose, where the victim—identified only as alias Ron, a bachelor and resident of the area—was riding his motorcycle when two men on separate motorcycles suddenly appeared and ambushed him. Initial reports indicate that one of the suspects fired a single shot, hitting the victim in the back.
Bystanders immediately rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. His condition has yet to be disclosed.
Witnesses told investigators that the suspects fled toward an unknown direction after the attack, triggering an ongoing chase by responding police units. Authorities have not yet determined whether the shooting was work-related, personal, or linked to any other conflict.
The Tacurong City Police Station continues to gather evidence and review possible CCTV footage to establish the suspects’ identities and the motive behind the attack. Police visibility in the area has been heightened to reassure residents and deter further incidents.
