OPOL, Misamis Oriental — Authorities seized an estimated ₱1.7 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested a high-value drug suspect during a search warrant operation in Barangay Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental, early morning on February 7, 2026.

The operation, carried out at around 6:00 a.m. in Zone 5, Barra, led to the arrest of a 41-year-old married woman, identified by the alias “Charmen,” a resident of the area and tagged by law enforcement as a High Value Individual (HVI) in the illegal drug trade.

According to police reports, operatives recovered 10 medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu. The seized illegal drugs weighed approximately 250 grams in total.

Also confiscated during the operation were several personal items believed to be linked to the suspect’s alleged drug activities. Authorities noted that the amount of drugs recovered indicates large-scale distribution, posing a serious threat to public safety and community welfare.

The suspect is currently detained at the Opol Municipal Police Station and is undergoing standard custodial procedures. Criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared against her.

Local police officials emphasized that the successful operation reflects their intensified campaign against illegal drugs in the municipality and surrounding areas. They also called on residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.

“This operation sends a strong message that we remain relentless in our fight against illegal drugs,” police authorities said, reiterating their commitment to protect the youth and maintain peace and order in Misamis Oriental.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspect is part of a wider drug network operating in Northern Mindanao.
