CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY / MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Authorities arrested three suspected drug personalities, including a high-value individual (HVI) and two street-level individuals, in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Cagayan de Oro City and various towns in Misamis Oriental from January 30 to 31, 2026. A total of around ₱85,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated during the operations.



In Cagayan de Oro City, a 39-year-old man identified as a high-value individual was arrested in a joint buy-bust operation by personnel of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Police Station 8 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10 at around 10:40 p.m. on January 31 in Lower Palalan, Lumbia.
Police said the suspect, a resident of Sitio Impaumbo, Lumbia, was apprehended after allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover operative. He was reportedly included in the PNP–PDEA city-level priority list. Seized from him were three heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu—one used as the buy-bust item and two as possession items—along with a black plastic zip lock and a genuine ₱500 bill used as marked money. The confiscated drugs weighed about five grams and were estimated to be worth ₱34,000.
Meanwhile, in Opol, Misamis Oriental, a street-level individual known by the alias “Totoy” was arrested in a buy-bust operation at around 3:38 a.m. on January 31 in Zone 7, Barangay Igpit. The operation was carried out by the Opol Municipal Police Station in coordination with the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office and PDEA.
Authorities recovered from the suspect one small and one medium heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, a ₱500 bill used as buy-bust money, and several cigarette packs allegedly used to conceal the illegal drugs. The seized shabu weighed approximately 4.5 grams with an estimated value of ₱30,600.
Earlier, at around 11:30 p.m. on January 30, another street-level individual identified by the alias “Papart” was arrested after police implemented a search warrant at his residence in Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental. The operation was conducted by the Magsaysay Municipal Police Station in coordination with PDEA.
Seized during the search were seven elongated heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, plastic containers, and various drug paraphernalia. The confiscated drugs weighed about three grams and were valued at ₱20,400.
All three suspects are currently under police custody for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Authorities said the operations highlight continued efforts to curb illegal drug activities across Northern Mindanao.
