December 24, 2025 — Buenavista, Agusan del Norte

Three members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to the Philippine Army on Christmas Eve, marking another milestone in the government’s continuing efforts to end armed conflict and promote lasting peace in conflict-affected communities.

The surrender took place on December 24, 2025 at the Headquarters of the 23rd Infantry (Masigasig) Battalion, where the former rebels formally turned themselves over to LTC Glennford C. Libre, INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 23IB.

Army officials said the successful surrender was the result of sustained intelligence operations and focused engagement efforts conducted by the intelligence operators of the 23IB. These efforts, the unit noted, emphasize dialogue, lawful processes, and peaceful means as key pathways toward resolving decades-long insurgency.

The former CTG members were identified by their aliases as @Longlong/Kokie, @Dagsa/Anol/Juri, and @Liza/Mikmik/Cindy/Maru/Hamara.

During the surrender, the individuals yielded one M16A1 rifle with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition, all of which were properly documented and secured by military personnel.

The Philippine Army assured that the surrenderees will be treated in accordance with existing laws and government programs, including reintegration, livelihood assistance, and other support mechanisms designed to help former rebels rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society as productive civilians.

Military officials stressed that the surrender highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations combined with the government’s whole-of-nation approach, which involves coordination among security forces, local government units, and communities in addressing the root causes of insurgency.

The 23rd Infantry Battalion reaffirmed its commitment to protect civilians, uphold peace, and support national security and development, emphasizing that dialogue and cooperation remain key to achieving lasting stability in the communities it serves.
