CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A retired police officer and former chief of the El Salvador City Police Office in Misamis Oriental was arrested for four counts of Acts of Lasciviousness in relation to the Anti-Child Abuse Law (RA 7610).

The suspect was identified as Retired Police Captain Edilberto Carillo, 60, a resident of Sitio Aura, Barangay Mambuaya, Cagayan de Oro City. Carillo was taken into custody by personnel of Police Station 8 in Barangay Lumbia on Sunday afternoon, November 9, 2025.

According to Police Major John Real Dela Cerna, chief of Police Station 8, four warrants of arrest were issued against Carillo by Judge Carolyn Casiño-Damasing of Regional Trial Court Branch 22, 10th Judicial Region, Cagayan de Oro City, on November 3.

Reports said the cases stemmed from complaints that Carillo allegedly molested a minor living in Sitio Patpat, Barangay Lumbia. The accused, who retired from the Philippine National Police in March 2021 and was last assigned to the Police Regional Office 10, is now detained at the Lumbia Police Station’s custodial facility.

Carillo may obtain temporary liberty if he posts bail amounting to ₱180,000 per case, or a total of ₱720,000 for all four counts.

Authorities have yet to release further details about the case pending ongoing investigation.
