NAGA, Zamboanga Sibugay — A regular employee of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) was caught in the act of stealing electrical wires by a security guard at the NGCP Naga Substation located in Purok 4, Crossing Sta. Clara, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, around 9:30 p.m. on October 15, 2025.

The suspect, an adult male and a resident of Poblacion, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, was reportedly seen carrying and attempting to cart away several electrical wires owned by NGCP.

According to authorities, the guard intercepted the suspect at the security control post, specifically at Gate 1 of the NGCP compound. Upon inspection, the wires were found to measure more than 100 meters in total length, with an estimated market value of ₱155,300.

Following the incident, the suspect was immediately arrested and brought to the Naga Municipal Police Station along with the confiscated materials for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.

Authorities are currently investigating how the employee managed to take the materials and whether others were involved in the attempted theft.
