ZAMBOANGA CITY — Deep outrage and condemnation pour over the brutal killing of a 69-year-old woman identified as Asuncion Pajarito, a resident of Barangay Vitali, who was found lifeless inside her home after sustaining 17 stab wounds inflicted by two unidentified assailants on Thursday evening, October 16, 2025.

According to Barangay Chairman Regalado Galad Marquez, initial reports revealed that the suspects forcibly entered the victim’s residence around 5:00 p.m. and attacked her mercilessly. The victim, known in the community as a small-time moneylender, was rushed to the nearest hospital by barangay emergency responders but was declared dead on arrival due to the severity of her injuries.

Authorities believe the crime’s motive was robbery, as the suspects allegedly took her collection money before fleeing the scene.

Barangay officials and police investigators are now working hand in hand to bring justice to the victim and her grieving family. The Zamboanga City Police Office has launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

“This is not just a crime — it’s an act of cruelty against an elderly woman who lived peacefully in our community,” Chairman Marquez said, condemning the attack. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to cooperate with authorities in providing any information that could lead to the suspects’ arrest.

Local leaders and residents alike denounce the cowardly and inhumane act, demanding swift justice for Pajarito, whose tragic death has sent shockwaves throughout the Vitali community.
