Pagadian City — October 16, 2025
A 59-year-old father was found lifeless after reportedly taking his own life at their residence in Sitio Nazareth, Barangay Buenavista, Pagadian City, on Wednesday afternoon, October 16.
The victim, identified as Jodi Pacquit, had been struggling with depression for the past three years, brought about by health complications from a tragic attack that left him with severe head injuries. According to his family, he survived four major brain surgeries after being hacked by one of his former workers years ago. Since then, he had difficulty speaking and often suffered from seizures.
Despite the challenges, his wife, Tata Pacquit, a businesswoman, had been his constant source of strength and encouragement. Unfortunately, the weight of his ongoing physical pain and emotional struggles may have pushed him to a breaking point.
Neighbors and friends expressed their grief on social media, remembering Judy as a kind and quiet man often seen tending to small tasks outside his home. One post read, “Uncle Judy, I always saw you when I passed by… now suddenly you’re gone. Condolences to the family.”
The tragedy highlights the silent battles many individuals face behind closed doors, especially those dealing with long-term illness or trauma. It serves as a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but of courage.
