Family appeals for compassion and awareness on mental health

PAGADIAN CITY – A family’s observance of All Souls’ Day turned into heartbreak when 37-year-old Edwin Andrew Bustillo reportedly took his own life inside his sibling’s home in Purok Malungay, Barangay Banale, on Sunday morning, November 2.

According to initial reports, family members were shocked to find Bustillo lifeless inside the house. Relatives believe that the victim had been experiencing deep emotional distress due to severe verbal mistreatment, which may have pushed him to end his life.

Authorities are conducting further investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Bustillo family is appealing to the public to be more sensitive and understanding toward individuals who may be silently battling depression and other mental health struggles.
