GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A call center agent was found dead in a remote area of Upper London A, Barangay Bawing, General Santos City, early Friday morning, July 31, 2026, as police continue investigating what initial findings indicate may be an alleged suicide. Authorities, however, emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and the official cause of death has yet to be determined.

The victim was identified by his mother, Bernadeth Gabaleo, as Jobert Gabaleo, after authorities informed the family about the discovery of his body at around 5:30 a.m.

According to Bernadeth, Jobert had left his boarding house in Barangay Tambler but never returned, prompting concern among his family and loved ones. When authorities later notified them of the discovery, the family immediately claimed his remains and has since begun making funeral arrangements while fully cooperating with investigators.

Police officers immediately responded to the scene and conducted an initial investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Jobert’s death. Based on evidence gathered during the initial examination, investigators reported that they found no indications of foul play or signs suggesting the involvement of another person.

Authorities also recovered a handwritten note believed to have been written by the victim and intended for his loved ones before the incident. Police have not disclosed the contents of the note out of respect for the family’s privacy and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

While investigators said the circumstances and evidence recovered from the scene are consistent with their initial line of inquiry, authorities stressed that the investigation has not yet been finalized. The exact cause and manner of death will be determined upon the completion of all required investigative and medico-legal procedures.

The sudden loss has left Jobert’s family, friends, and colleagues mourning as they await the official findings of the authorities.

The incident has also renewed discussions on the importance of mental health awareness and emotional well-being, particularly among individuals who may be silently struggling with emotional distress, anxiety, depression, or other personal challenges.

Mental health professionals continue to remind the public that depression is a serious medical condition—not a sign of weakness, not something to be dismissed, and never something to joke about. Many people who are experiencing emotional pain suffer in silence, making compassion, understanding, and timely support from family, friends, workplaces, and communities critically important.

If you or someone you know is struggling emotionally, feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, remember that help is always available. Reaching out to a trusted family member, friend, counselor, mental health professional, or crisis support service can make a meaningful difference. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Authorities continue processing the case as they finalize their investigation and complete all required documentation.
