MARAMAG, Bukidnon – A 53-year-old businessman from Valencia City died on Saturday afternoon, July 18, after reportedly falling from an overpass near the Central Mindanao University (CMU) campus in Barangay Dologon, Maramag, authorities confirmed.

The victim, identified by police through the alias “Milo,” was a resident of Barangay Lumbo, Valencia City.

According to initial reports, the Maramag Municipal Police Station received a call regarding the incident at around 3:15 p.m. Responding officers immediately proceeded to the area, where they learned that concerned bystanders had already rushed the victim to a hospital in Maramag for emergency treatment.

Despite efforts to save his life, the attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

Initial police findings indicate that the victim was seen ascending the CMU overpass before falling from the structure. Authorities, however, have not released any official findings regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.

The victim’s family has since arrived at the funeral home where his remains were taken.

Police said investigators are gathering available evidence and interviewing possible witnesses to establish the complete circumstances surrounding the tragedy. As of this writing, authorities have not issued any statement regarding a possible motive and urged the public to refrain from speculation while the investigation is underway.

The Maramag Municipal Police Station also reminded the public to immediately seek assistance from authorities during emergencies and encouraged residents to remain vigilant and supportive of one another within the community.
