TAGUM CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE — A 38-year-old member of the City Civil Security Unit (CSU) was gunned down while riding his motorcycle along Orchard Road in Purok 1, Barangay La Filipina, Tagum City, on Sunday night, October 5, 2025.

The victim was identified by police as James Blantucas Infiesto, a resident of Purok 9 Malinawon, Barangay La Filipina. Initial investigation by the Tagum City Police Station revealed that Infiesto was ambushed by unidentified assailants while driving his Suzuki Raider motorcycle.

Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots before finding Infiesto lifeless on the roadside, his body slumped beside his motorcycle and riddled with bullets. Responding authorities arrived at the scene after receiving a call around 8:10 p.m.

The suspects reportedly fled in an unknown direction immediately after the attack. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing, but police investigators are coordinating closely with barangay officials in La Filipina to identify and track down the perpetrators.

The Tagum Civil Security Unit expressed deep sorrow over the death of their member. In an official statement, the CSU said:

“Our deepest condolences to the family of James Blantucas Infiesto, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident. We are deeply saddened by his passing and share in your grief during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace and justice be served.”

Police investigators continue to pursue all leads as the community calls for swift justice for Infiesto’s killing.
