A 33-year-old pregnant woman was shot several times by an unidentified gunman shortly after arriving at her boarding house in Purok Malinawon 2, Barangay Magugpo East, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, on the evening of September 19, 2026.
The shooting occurred at around 6:20 p.m., according to information received by the Tagum City Police Station.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Jannah,” was temporarily staying at the J&A Boarding House when the attack happened. She reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to her back and other parts of her body.
Personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) immediately responded and transported the victim to the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) for medical treatment.
According to the boarding house caretaker, identified by the alias “Eliseo,” Jannah had only recently arrived at the boarding house when an unidentified man suddenly approached and fired at her several times.
The gunman immediately fled the area and escaped in an undetermined direction.
Investigators from the Davao Norte Provincial Forensic Unit processed the crime scene and recovered three empty cartridge cases believed to be from a .45-caliber firearm, along with one fired bullet.
The circumstances surrounding the attack, including the motive and the identity of the gunman, remain under investigation.
The Tagum City Police Station, under the leadership of Chief of Police PLTCOL Edgardo G. Bahan, is conducting follow-up investigations and dragnet operations to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Police authorities are also coordinating with the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office and neighboring police stations as part of efforts to track down the person responsible for the shooting.
Authorities have yet to establish a motive for the attack, and the police investigation remains ongoing.
