DUMINGAG, Zamboanga del Sur – A 20-year-old student was found dead inside an unfinished house in Purok Cadena de Amor, Barangay San Pedro, Dumingag, after reportedly taking his own life in the early hours of October 7, 2025.

The victim was identified as Glean Dandoy, a resident of Barangay Tagun, Dumingag, and a student-runner in a local school. He was last seen by classmates on the evening of October 6 and did not return to his boarding house that night.

According to police reports, Dandoy’s sibling discovered him lifeless, hanging inside the unfinished house using a rope. A handwritten note was found on his cellphone, where he reportedly expressed apologies to his parents and revealed that he had been struggling with an illness and constant headaches. He wrote that he did not want to cause worry to his family.

Initial police investigation showed no signs of foul play, and authorities believe that the incident was a case of suicide.

The student’s body has since been turned over to his family.

In light of the tragedy, local authorities are strongly reminding the public to take mental health seriously and to reach out for help rather than suffering in silence. The police urged individuals who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, or overwhelming stress to confide in trusted family members, friends, or seek professional counseling.
