Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City — July 28, 2025 — Two suspected drug personalities were arrested in separate anti-drug operations conducted by the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City, yielding approximately ₱680,000 worth of suspected shabu.

On July 27, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Iligan City Police Office (CDEU-ICPO) carried out a buy-bust operation in Barangay Saray, Iligan City, which resulted in the arrest of a 49-year-old suspect identified only as alias “Alvin,” a resident of Marawi City.

Authorities confiscated nine plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱340,000. Records reveal that “Alvin” had previously been apprehended by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for violating Republic Act 9165. Investigators suspect the illegal drugs were sourced from Lanao del Sur and distributed in Iligan.

“Alvin” is currently detained at the Iligan City Police Station 5 and will be charged for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of R.A. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In a separate operation on July 28, members of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 10 (PDEG-SOU 10), in coordination with other operating units, arrested a high-value target identified as alias “Mego,” 43, a technician and resident of Zone 3, Barangay 17, Cagayan de Oro City.

His son, alias “CJ,” 21, reportedly present during the buy-bust, managed to flee and is currently being pursued by authorities.

Seized from “Mego” were 16 sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 50 grams with an estimated street value of ₱340,000. Also recovered were a mobile phone, an empty cigarette pack, a sling bag, and ₱1,000 in marked money used in the operation.

“Mego” is currently in the custody of PDEG-SOU 10. He faces charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of R.A. 9165, while a separate charge under Section 5 will be filed against the at-large suspect.

PBGEN Rolindo M. Suguilon, Regional Director of PRO10, lauded the efforts of the operating teams.

“I commend the operating units for the successful buy-bust operation. PRO10, along with other law enforcement agencies, remains relentless in its pursuit of a drug-free Northern Mindanao. I urge the public to continue supporting us in our fight against illegal drugs,” Suguilon said.

Authorities vowed to intensify anti-drug campaigns in the region, as part of the continuing nationwide war on drugs.
