MALUSO, BASILAN — Authorities arrested a suspected drug peddler identified only as alias “Maksan” in a successful buy-bust operation conducted on July 2, 2025, in Barangay Upper Portholland (Zone 4), Maluso, Basilan.
The joint anti-drug operation was carried out by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Maluso Municipal Police Station (MPS), the 4th Maneuver Platoon of the 2nd Basilan Provincial Mobile Force Company (BPMFC), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA RO-BARMM).
Seized from the suspect’s possession were four sachets of suspected shabu weighing a total of 4 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱27,000. Also recovered were marked money used in the operation, a green lighter, and a rolled aluminum foil—common paraphernalia linked to drug use.
The suspect will face charges for violating Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to combat illegal drugs and safeguard our communities. Aligned with the directive of CPNP PGen. Nicolas D. Torre III, we continue to push for a safer, drug-free BARMM,” the police statement read.
Authorities reiterated their call for continued community cooperation to ensure a sustained campaign against illegal drugs across the region.
