ISABELA CITY, BASILAN — July 5, 2025 — The 6th Special Forces Battalion (6SFBn) of the Philippine Army continues to uphold its peacebuilding and development initiatives in Basilan Province through community outreach and strong collaboration with local stakeholders.

Earlier today, MNLF Commander Almusrib Ahmad of Barangay Masula, Isabela City, paid a courtesy visit to Lieutenant Colonel Roldan P. Mira, Commanding Officer of the 6SFBn, at the unit’s Forward Operating Base in Barangay Cabunbata. The meeting reaffirmed the ongoing partnership between the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the 6SFBn in maintaining peace and order in the region.

In a parallel initiative, the 20th Special Forces Company, operating under the 6SFBn, extended educational support to remote island communities through the continuation of the PAHINA Program (Profound Avenue for Hope, Inspiration, and Noble Aspiration). The program, first introduced by the 15th Special Forces Company, saw renewed efforts in the island municipality of Tabuan Lasa.

In collaboration with Ateneo de Zamboanga University–Grade School, the unit donated books and school supplies to Lanawan Elementary School and Kaumpurnah Elementary School. The initiative seeks to improve the learning environment and promote continuous education among young learners in the area.

The 6th Special Forces Battalion emphasized its unwavering commitment to fostering peace and development in Basilan through inclusive programs and meaningful partnerships. By building trust and supporting basic services, the unit aims to pave the way for a more secure and hopeful future for local communities.
