Davao City – A total of 166,663 senior citizens in Davao City have received their annual financial assistance from the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), according to a city official.
Social Worker Ruth Naive, focal person for the Senior Citizen Welfare Program, confirmed in an interview over Davao City Disaster Radio that the distribution for the 2024 assistance has been completed. She also announced that preparations for the 2025 payout are already in progress.
Naive said that the CSWDO is coordinating with the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) to begin the distribution process for 2025 by August. Each qualified senior citizen will continue to receive a subsidy of ₱1,500, the same amount granted in previous years.
In addition to the payout preparations, OSCA is conducting a cleanup of its master list to ensure accuracy in the records. This includes removing duplicate entries, delisting deceased individuals, and resolving issues with identical OSCA ID numbers.
To support this effort, seniors—especially those whose ID cards were issued in 2022 or earlier—are being encouraged to update their identification at the OSCA office, located on the ground floor of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building.
Naive clarified that while there is generally no fixed deadline for ID updates, a deadline applies to certain groups of senior citizens.
“The deadline is only for those who had their birthday last year or recently turned 60, so they can be included in the annual budget. Those who turned 60 after May 31 will be eligible for the 2026 budget,” she explained.
Senior citizens are urged to register or update their records promptly to ensure inclusion in the next round of financial assistance.
