General Santos City — A man believed to be involved in smuggling cigarettes was found dead in Purok Raquinards 1, Barangay Sinawal, General Santos City, authorities reported.
According to initial reports, the victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and was riding a black XRM motorcycle. Witnesses said he was wearing violet jacket, pants, a cap, and slippers. The man was allegedly transporting smuggled cigarettes when he was shot.
As of now, the victim remains unidentified, and police are conducting further investigations to determine the motive behind the shooting and the identity of the perpetrator.
Smuggling of cigarettes has been a persistent issue in the region, and authorities are looking into whether the killing is connected to ongoing crackdowns on illegal trade.
