GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A man believed to have entered an unoccupied house to steal electrical wires was found dead inside its ceiling on Tuesday evening, November 3, 2026, in Barangay City Heights, General Santos City.

The man’s body was discovered at around 7 p.m. inside a rental property located along Salvani Street, Agan Grand Village, Barangay City Heights. Authorities said the victim may have accidentally suffered electrocution while allegedly attempting to steal electrical wiring from the vacant residence.
According to the house caretaker, he became suspicious after noticing bloodstains on the floor upon entering the property. When he looked toward the ceiling to determine where the blood had come from, he noticed a person’s feet protruding from the ceiling cavity.
Alarmed by the discovery, the caretaker immediately contacted barangay officials and reported the presence of a man inside the ceiling. By the time authorities were alerted, the victim’s body was already showing signs of decomposition, suggesting that he may have been dead for some time before being discovered.
A barangay councilor said initial accounts pointed to possible electrocution, with investigators considering the possibility that the man had entered the house through the ceiling to steal electrical wires while the property was unoccupied.
The house had reportedly been vacant for several days after its previous occupants moved out. The property was being offered for rent, leaving it without residents at the time of the incident.
Police have yet to establish the identity of the deceased. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding his entry into the property, the possible cause of death, and how long his body had remained inside the ceiling.
Authorities have taken over the investigation. The suspected theft and electrocution remain initial theories and have yet to be conclusively established pending the results of the investigation and appropriate forensic examination.
