Cagayan de Oro City – April 22, 2025 — A joint anti-drug operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the City Intelligence Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) led to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs worth an estimated P170,000 in Zayas, Barangay Carmen.
The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Mike,” 25, and “Ron,” 33, both residents of the same barangay, were apprehended during a buy-bust operation. According to police records, “Mike” had previously been arrested in 2021 for a drug-related offense, while “Ron” is a first-time offender.
Recovered from the suspects were two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing approximately 25 grams of suspected shabu, a mobile phone, and a P500 bill used as marked buy-bust money.
The arrested individuals are now under the custody of CDEU-COCPO as authorities prepare to file charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), praised the operatives for their efforts, emphasizing the region’s firm stance against illegal drugs.
“I commend the operating units for a job well done. PRO10 remains committed to intensifying our campaign against illegal drugs through proactive and intelligence-driven operations,” said PBGEN De Guzman. “We will continue to pursue and apprehend individuals involved in the illegal drug trade to ensure a safer and drug-free Northern Mindanao.”
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities.
The latest operation underscores the ongoing efforts of local authorities to curb illegal drug activities in the city and the broader Northern Mindanao region.
