Mindanao — In a significant push toward sustainable and eco-friendly transportation, SM Supermalls is making Holy Week travels easier and greener for Electric Vehicle (EV) owners by expanding its network of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) across the region.

With 123 charging stations already operating nationwide and an additional 50 slated for rollout in 2025, SM Supermalls is strengthening its commitment to promoting clean mobility and reducing the country’s carbon footprint. This growing network not only offers convenience but also serves as a direct response to the global call for climate action.
In Mindanao, EV drivers can now enjoy free charging at strategic locations, including SM City Cagayan de Oro (Downtown and Uptown) and SM Lanang in Davao. For travelers this Holy Week, a round trip covering 280 kilometers between SM City CDO Downtown and SM Lanang, Davao can prevent the release of approximately 0.035 tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) into the atmosphere—equivalent to saving 3.9 gallons of gasoline or 38.5 pounds of coal burned.
SM Supermalls, an accredited EVCS operator recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE), ensures its facilities meet national standards for safety and efficiency. This initiative plays a vital role in addressing the lack of charging infrastructure, one of the key hurdles slowing down the transition to electric vehicles in the country.
Beyond convenience, the shift to EVs holds great significance for the environment. Unlike traditional gasoline or diesel-powered cars, electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, reducing the harmful greenhouse gases responsible for global warming and climate change. By supporting EV adoption, SM Supermalls is helping the Philippines move closer to a low-carbon, more sustainable future.
Excitingly, SM Supermalls has announced that this green initiative will soon be available in all its branches across Mindanao, making EV ownership even more practical and accessible for local motorists. This expansion not only encourages more Filipinos to consider electric vehicles but also positions SM as a leader in the country’s clean energy movement.
This Holy Week and beyond, motorists are encouraged to #RechargeWithSM and experience the freedom of worry-free, eco-friendly travel. With the charging network continually growing, SM Supermalls is making sustainable choices easier for Filipinos — one electric mile at a time.
