ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — For six deserving young Filipinos in Zamboanga City, a new chapter filled with hope, opportunity, and promise officially began as they were welcomed into the growing family of SM Foundation Scholars, marking another milestone in the foundation’s enduring mission to empower the nation’s future leaders through education.
In a heartfelt ceremonial contract signing held on August 5 at SM City Mindpro, the six newly selected scholars, accompanied by their parents and guardians, formally joined the prestigious scholarship program that has transformed the lives of thousands of Filipino students across the country.
The ceremony symbolized more than the awarding of educational assistance—it celebrated the determination, resilience, and aspirations of students who have overcome challenges in pursuit of higher education. It also reaffirmed SM Foundation’s unwavering commitment to making quality education accessible to deserving and hardworking Filipino youth, regardless of financial circumstances.
Welcoming the scholars into the SM family were SM City Mindpro Assistant Mall Manager Engr. Rommel P. Bellen and SM Foundation Education Program Assistant Lynneth Gelilio, who both delivered inspiring messages encouraging the students to pursue excellence while remaining grounded in gratitude, integrity, and service.
In his welcome remarks, Engr. Bellen congratulated the scholars for earning the opportunity through their perseverance and hard work.
